The Eastern Regional Company for Multifaceted Services has warned of the dangers of unsafe electrical connections and meter tampering, after field inspections and monitoring conducted by its technical teams revealed the presence of electrical meters showing significant signs of burning on the wires and connections.
The company explained that these indicators are particularly dangerous within commercial and model markets, which experience continuous movement and overcrowding, given the fires that electrical imbalances can cause, threatening the safety of traders and customers, in addition to causing serious damage to property and infrastructure.
Data included in the institution's statement indicated that random electrical connections, the use of equipment not conforming to safety standards, and meter tampering are among the practices that can lead to short circuits and rapidly spreading fires, especially within spaces containing flammable goods and materials.
The company cautioned that the repercussions of these potential incidents are not limited to material losses and disruption of commercial activities, but may extend to threatening lives due to dense smoke and flames, as well as the possibility of damage to infrastructure and equipment resulting from overheating of electrical wires and connections.
In the same context, the Eastern Regional Company for Multifaceted Services affirmed that tampering with the electrical grid and electricity theft not only constitute a violation of the law, but can also cause disruptions in the quality of energy supply and expose domestic and professional equipment to damage.
The institution called on citizens, especially traders and professionals in various markets and commercial spaces, to adhere to electrical safety standards, avoid all forms of fraud and tampering with networks, and ensure periodic maintenance of equipment and to seek the assistance of specialists when necessary.
The company stressed that protecting lives and property is a shared responsibility, emphasizing the importance of collective engagement in preventing electrical risks, thereby ensuring the safety of citizens and the continuity of economic activities in the Oriental region.
