The 17th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show, held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, hosted the awarding ceremony for the third edition of the competition for the best traditional craftsmen in crafts and products related to horses and Tbourida, in honor of the skills of Moroccan artisans and their role in preserving the authenticity of this cultural heritage.
The competition included three categories of traditional crafts: saddle making, traditional rifle making known as "Makhal", and traditional fabrics associated with Tbourida. These products reflect the richness of Moroccan traditional craftsmanship and the expertise accumulated by artisans through generations.
This award is organized by the Dar Al-Sane Foundation, as part of a partnership between the Secretariat of State for Traditional Industries and Social and Solidarity Economy, the Royal Company for the Encouragement of Horses, and the National Association of Traditional Equestrian Arts "Tbourida". The aim is to value crafts associated with this authentic Moroccan art and encourage the transfer of their skills to future generations.
Participating works were evaluated by a specialized committee based on criteria including the quality of materials used, design originality, product aesthetics, adherence to Moroccan identity, and safety conditions.
The 2026 edition saw the participation of craftsmen from various Moroccan regions, including Fez, Chichaoua, Khémisset, Azilal, and El Jadida, embodying the reach of these crafts and their deep roots in local culture, as well as the role of traditional craftsmen in preserving Tbourida accessories and maintaining their uniqueness.
