HIBAPRESS – Martil
The suffering of a number of citizens in the city of Martil continues with the noticeable rise in monthly apartment rental prices, amid the difficulty of finding housing at prices that suit the purchasing power of low-income families, students, and employees, who find themselves with limited options and costs that burden them.
According to statements circulating among those looking for housing, monthly rental prices have in many cases started from 2000 dirhams, while other offers range between 2200 and 3000 dirhams, which makes renting a suitable apartment a real challenge for citizens with limited incomes.
The situation of a family from the city reflects the extent of this suffering, after they spent two months searching for a monthly rental apartment without finding an option that suits their financial capabilities. The answer they received when contacting real estate brokers was constantly repeated: available apartments start at 2000 dirhams and above.
The situation is becoming more difficult for employees and workers whose monthly wages do not exceed 3000 dirhams, as dedicating a large portion of their income to cover housing expenses becomes burdensome, especially with the need to provide for daily living costs such as food, transportation, and water and electricity bills.
The problem is not limited to high prices only, but also extends to the limited supply, as some apartment owners tend to keep their properties to benefit from rental income during the summer season, which raises questions about the availability of housing for long-term rent outside the tourist period.
On the other hand, those looking for apartments at prices below 1500 dirhams face great difficulty in finding suitable offers, while some may find themselves forced to accept housing that needs repairs or lacks basic comfort conditions.
