Nador-Al Aaroui Airport witnessed a remarkable and distinguished performance during the first two months of this year, as the latest data from the National Airports Office revealed a positive growth in passenger traffic, reaching 8.68 percent compared to the same period last year.
This tangible development reflects the increasing attractiveness of the Eastern region as an important tourist and economic destination, in line with the comprehensive boom witnessed by the aviation sector at the national level. On a numerical level, the airport succeeded in attracting a total of 166,708 passengers by the end of February, achieving a qualitative leap compared to 153,400 passengers recorded in the previous year. Looking at the activity of February alone, the airport maintained its upward trajectory by receiving 72,709 passengers, which confirms the stability of demand at this vital air border point and its ability to accommodate the increasing flows of visitors. In the details of air transport movement, international flights continue to clearly dominate the airport's activity, as the number of passengers on international routes reached 156,669 passengers, with a strong increase of nearly 9.54 percent, which enhances the airport's position as an essential link between Moroccans around the world and the homeland. In contrast, domestic flights saw a slight decline of 3.25 percent, as the number of passengers on board did not exceed 10,039 during this period. As for field operations and aircraft movement, the airport recorded diligent activity by securing 1,211 air navigation movements, which represents a significant increase of 15.44 percent compared to last year. This increase in the number of flights reflects the effectiveness of coordination between various actors in the aviation sector to enhance air connectivity for the region, and to meet the growing needs of passengers coming from various capitals and global cities. This recovery experienced by Nador-Al Aaroui Airport comes within a national context characterized by the continuous growth of the air transport sector in Morocco, where the various airports of the Kingdom received more than 5.9 million passengers by the end of February, with a total increase of 7.91 percent. These positive results confirm the success of the national strategy to develop airport infrastructure, which effectively contributes to enhancing the Kingdom's radiance as a leading destination on the international air navigation map.
