British MP and former UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Morocco, Andrew Morrison, affirmed that the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco is the only serious plan for resolving the regional dispute over the Sahara, considering it the most realistic and practical framework.
Morrison highlighted the strength of the relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom, especially in the economic field, pointing to the growing bilateral cooperation in various sectors of common interest. In the same context, Member of Parliament in the House of Commons and former British Defense Minister Liam Fox stressed the importance of the United Kingdom's support for UN Resolution 2797, which considered the autonomy initiative as the serious and only basis for settling the Sahara file. Fox explained that this resolution reflects the ongoing efforts of the United Nations to find a realistic and lasting political solution to this conflict, within the framework of increasing international consensus on the need to adopt a practical approach based on dialogue and stability.
