US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday the extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon for three weeks following a new round of talks at the White House between the ambassadors of the two countries, expressing his hope of reaching a peace agreement this year.
Trump wrote on his platform "Truth Social", "The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended for three weeks," indicating that the meeting "went very well." Before the talks, Lebanon announced that it would request an extension of the ceasefire that has been in effect between Israel and Hezbollah since April 17 for an additional month.
