The weighty statement published on the official website of the 2024 Olympic Games indicates that the name of Algerian judoka Idriss Massoud, who was due to face his Israeli competitor Tohar Booutboul in the round of 16, was crossed out on Monday.

The organizers of the judo competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as well as the International Judo Federation, have announced that Algerian Idriss Massoud will not compete in his fight scheduled for Monday against Israeli Tohar Boutboul in the round of 16 because he exceeded the legal weight for the under-73 kg category.

The Algerian Olympic Committee’s media officer preferred “not to comment on the matter at this time,” while the Israeli Olympic Committee considered that “this type of behavior has no place in the world of sport,” stressing that its delegation “will continue to compete” while preserving the Olympic spirit and values.
