The Moroccan School of Engineering Sciences in Rabat (EMSI) organized a competition in the art of public speaking (EMSI Speech Master) today, Sunday, which aimed to equip future engineers with the basic skills that enable them to transform their expertise into a strong professional impact.
This competition, which was organized on the initiative of the students of the "Cascom" club under the slogan "Engineering at the service of rhetoric", falls within a pedagogical approach that aims to enhance soft skills among students, especially leadership, critical thinking, and self-confidence. This event, which brought together about fifteen candidates who were selected after passing the qualifying rounds, seeks to be a distinguished platform for speaking in public, allowing the showcasing of talents and the discovery of the best candidates capable of excellence through their fluency in speech, their ability to persuade, and the accuracy and validity of their ideas. During this event, the finalists presented speeches that addressed various topics related, in particular, to society, innovation, and contemporary challenges, in which they mixed rhetoric, emotion, and critical thinking in order to win the admiration of the judging panel and the audience. In addition to its competitive nature, this initiative embodies the development of pedagogical approaches in higher education, where soft skills, such as the art of public speaking and leadership, are gaining increasing importance. Najla Lotfi, the official in charge of student life, confirmed in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency that the Moroccan School of Engineering Sciences is working to train competent and innovative engineers who possess soft skills, highlighting that activities of this kind reflect a growing awareness of the importance of comprehensive training that combines technical competence and soft skills, which have become necessary for success in professional life. For her part, Noha Weghaten, president of the "Cascom" club, expressed her pride in organizing this competition, which reveals the talents of the institution and gives them the opportunity to express themselves freely on the platform, indicating that soft skills are among the basic requirements for future engineers that enable them to employ their full potential in their career paths. As for the student Aya Al-Gharani, who is one of the participants, she explained that this competition represents a unique opportunity for future engineers to enhance their soft skills. The judging panel of this competition, which consists of professionals and trainers in the art of communication and academic figures, evaluates the finalists according to precise criteria, including the organization of arguments, presence on the platform, and the impact of the message, in light of a high level of competition. A ceremony is expected to be held to distribute prizes to the winners (the "Cascom" Prize and the Flexibility Prize) at the conclusion of this competition, crowning the best presentations.
