British company "Predator Oil & Gas" is preparing to make a strategic shift in the Jerada basin, following its official announcement of the launch of the first phase of compressed natural gas (CNG) production during 2026.
The company's annual results for 2025, filed with the London Stock Exchange, showed a firm trend towards valuing gas discoveries, supported by strong financial solvency that guarantees the financing of drilling and expansion programs in both Morocco and Trinidad, which enhances the company's position as a rising player in the regional energy market. The company relies on "data intelligence" extracted from the "MOU-3" well in its operational plan, where deep geological analyzes enabled a more accurate understanding of the site's characteristics and technical challenges without the need to deplete resources in heavy drilling equipment at present. This technical approach is based primarily on the exploitation of the “TGB-6 Submarine Fan Sand” reservoir, which has been classified as a top priority thanks to its promising reserves estimated at about 61.95 billion cubic feet of extractable gas, making it the main engine for the upcoming pilot production project. Predator's strategy extends over a vast concession area exceeding 4,000 square kilometers, where it focuses intensively on shallow biogas, which is characterized by the speed of transition from the discovery phase to commercial exploitation. This "flexible" model aims to reduce traditional time periods in the oil and gas sector, with strict control over capital costs, allowing the company to achieve quick returns and provide efficient energy solutions to the local Moroccan market in record time. This development in the Jerada basin reflects the confidence of British investments in the energy potential of the Kingdom of Morocco, especially with the adoption of compressed natural gas technologies that provide high flexibility in distribution and sales. The success of this transitional phase during 2026 will lay the foundation for wider energy projects, which contribute to enhancing national energy sovereignty and open new horizons for the development of gas-related infrastructure in the eastern region of the Kingdom.
