The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Casablanca Court of Appeal decided this morning, Monday, to extend the period of custodial detention for two individuals suspected of involvement in the murder of a taxi driver, as part of deepening the investigation and uncovering all the circumstances of this crime.
The details of the case date back to the end of last April, when the body of a 74-year-old taxi driver was found in the Ain Chock area, with traces of physical assault by a bladed weapon, which alarmed various security services. Police judicial elements, supported by scientific and technical police teams, began thorough field investigations that enabled the identification of the suspects, before one of them was arrested in the city of Oujda, while the second was arrested in the city of Casablanca simultaneously. According to available data, the detainees, who are taxi drivers aged 40 and 48, are suspected of being involved in committing a physical assault that led to the death of the victim, for reasons that investigations are still underway to determine precisely. Search operations also resulted in the seizure of a light vehicle that is likely to have been used in carrying out this criminal act, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution. Investigations continue with the suspects, who have been placed in custodial detention, with the aim of uncovering all the threads of this case and determining the legal responsibilities associated with it.
