HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
A central committee belonging to the General Inspection of the General Directorate of National Security has launched field investigations into the Regional Security Directorate in Inzgane, as part of a wide-ranging inspection operation aimed at monitoring professional irregularities and potential violations within some security services.
According to information available to HIBAPRESS, these investigations have resulted in disciplinary decisions against a number of officials and traffic police officers, after recording professional violations that required the direct intervention of the General Inspection. The same sources indicate that these decisions were based on detailed reports prepared by central committees, which monitored a number of violations related to road monitoring tasks and the daily management of the security facility. In a related context, this file raises questions about the effectiveness of the work of the Regional Inspection Committee of the Provincial Security in Agadir, especially after it was bypassed through the intervention of central committees sent specifically to address the irregularities. The data also revealed that previous reports issued by the General Inspection had referred, during the past two years, a number of security officials to internal investigations due to suspicions of professional violations, which revives the debate about the effectiveness of internal monitoring mechanisms at the regional level. These developments are expected to open the door to a deeper review of the inspection and monitoring system within the security apparatus, in a way that enhances the principles of governance and links responsibility with accountability.
