The cities of northern Morocco witnessed, this Wednesday morning, light seismic activity represented by a series of earthquakes that struck the Strait of Gibraltar area and were felt by residents of a number of cities, including Tetouan, Fnideq, M'diq, Tangier, in addition to the city of Ceuta and cities in southern Spain.
The strongest of these tremors was recorded in the city of Fnideq, where its magnitude reached 3.2 on the Richter scale, at approximately 7:35:37 am, according to preliminary data issued by earthquake monitoring applications. The earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 1.9 kilometers, near the Fnideq and M'diq areas, at coordinates 35.720 degrees north and 5.364 degrees west. According to data from the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, this tremor was preceded by a first tremor at 07:21 am with a magnitude of 3.1 degrees and at a depth of 10 kilometers, followed by a second tremor at approximately 07:35 with a magnitude of 3.2 degrees, then a third tremor at 07:38 with a magnitude of 2.7 degrees. A similar tremor was also recorded in the city of Martil at approximately 07:25 am with a magnitude of 3.1 degrees and at a depth of 10 kilometers, which was slightly felt by a number of residents.
