HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaed
As part of consolidating the right to health and improving the medical services provided to the prison population, the Yezza Slaoui Foundation organized a multi-specialty medical campaign targeting the inmates of the Bouarfa prison, with the aim of bringing specialized consultations closer and providing the necessary health care to this group.
This humanitarian initiative, which was supervised by a specialized medical and paramedical team, constituted an important stage in the path of social services directed to the inmates, as the medical offer met the needs of more than 500 beneficiaries, and the services included conducting accurate clinical examinations, providing specialized medical consultations, in addition to enabling beneficiaries to receive significant quantities of essential medicines free of charge, based on the medical prescriptions obtained.
The medical interventions during this convoy were distributed across five specialties that were chosen based on the most common health needs within the institution, namely, dentistry, ophthalmology, dermatology, urology, and gastroenterology.
This step falls within the context of efforts aimed at humanizing the conditions of detention and strengthening the participatory approach between civil society institutions and the prison administration to guarantee the inmates' right to access treatment.
This initiative had a positive impact among the beneficiaries, who praised the quality of the services provided and the professionalism of the medical staff, expressing their hope for the sustainability of such humanitarian gestures that directly contribute to improving their health status and raising their morale during their period of serving their sentences.
