The judicial center of the Royal Gendarmerie in Taroudant, in coordination with the elements of the Ait Iaazza territorial center, managed to seize a significant quantity of chira, weighing about 10 kilograms, during a security operation carried out on the night of Saturday, May 9, in the Afrija region of Taroudant province.
This operation came based on accurate information received by the Royal Gendarmerie services about suspicious movements of a person suspected of being involved in drug trafficking near a agricultural field. Following this, a tight field plan was put in place to encircle the place and monitor the movements of the person concerned.
The investigations and field intervention resulted in the discovery of the seized quantity carefully hidden in the agricultural field, under circumstances that suggest that it was intended for promotion, while the suspect managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness and the difficulty of the paths in the region.
After the operation, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie began extensive investigations to identify the suspect and arrest him, as well as to uncover the remaining potential extensions of this criminal activity.
The judicial investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution at the Taroudant Court of First Instance, in order to uncover all the circumstances of the case and arrange the necessary legal responsibilities, within the framework of the continuous efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and enhance security in rural areas.
