HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
The weekly livestock market in Sidi Slimane witnessed significant commercial activity and increasing demand from citizens and livestock farmers this Wednesday morning, coinciding with the approach of Eid al-Adha, amid a noticeable increase in demand for the "Sardi" sheep known for its quality and its position within Moroccan markets.
According to professionals and livestock traders, the prices of the Sardi sheep in the market range between 5,000 and 5,500 dirhams, with a difference in prices depending on the weight, quality of the herd, and the care it receives, while some excellent heads are priced higher. A number of livestock farmers confirm that the market is witnessing moderate demand this season compared to previous years, in light of the rising costs of feed and transportation, which has directly reflected on the prices of sacrificial animals of various types. In contrast, a number of citizens expressed their fear of the continued rise in prices in the coming days, especially with the increasing demand and the approach of the Eid date, calling for the organization of markets and strengthening control to preserve the purchasing power of Moroccan families. The "Sardi" sheep remains one of the most sought-after breeds within the national markets, due to its quality and distinctive shape, which makes it maintain its position annually despite the disparity in prices between different regions and weekly markets.
