To prepare for the next 2024-2025 agricultural campaign, the ministry is taking a series of measures, particularly in terms of the supply of plant production factors (seeds and fertilizers) and animal production factors (feed), the development of agricultural sectors, the management of irrigation water, agricultural insurance, financing and support for farmers.
Regarding seeds, the Government will continue to support certified cereal seeds by around 40% to keep prices at affordable levels for farmers, and will integrate new species, particularly legumes and fodder.
Thus, it is planned for the next campaign to mobilize 1.26 million quintals of certified cereal seeds at incentive and subsidized prices.
It is also planned, for the second consecutive campaign, to subsidize seeds and plants of round tomatoes, onions and potatoes in order to reduce the cost of production of these vegetables, improve production and guarantee the supply of the national market with sufficient quantities of vegetables and at reasonable prices for the consumer.
As for fertilizers, it is planned to supply the market with 650,000 tons of phosphate fertilizers, at the same price as the previous campaign.
For imported nitrogen fertilizers, the subsidy will be maintained at the same level as the previous campaign, at a level of 40 to 45%, for a programmed quantity of 5 million Qx.
The granting of aid for laboratory analyses (soil, water and plants) will be maintained to encourage farmers to practice rational fertilization.
The forecast program for autumn crops will be implemented taking into account water availability in rainfed areas. It provides for 4.36 million ha of cereals, nearly 545,900 ha of fodder crops, nearly 300,000 ha of food legumes and 105,860 ha of autumn market gardening.
The implementation of this forecast program will depend on climatic conditions and the availability of irrigation water.
Regarding animal production, the subsidy for barley and compound feed will continue depending on climatic conditions and the state of the rangelands and fodder production.
Alongside the cyclical measures, the Ministry is working to gradually restore the balances of the various sectors, by continuing structural investments aimed at strengthening the resilience of the sector in the face of climate change.
Indeed, the encouragement of investment in the agricultural sector continues in accordance with the provisions of the Generation Green strategy by granting incentives within the framework of the Agricultural Development Fund (FDA) with the maintenance of existing incentives and the establishment of new aid.
