The national road number 1 near El Jadida was shaken last Wednesday by an armed assault targeting a "El Jadida Al-Kubra" urban transport bus, carried out by a person wanted with a bladed weapon.
According to preliminary data, the suspect, described as dangerous, attacked the bus driver near the "Al-Musawwir Rasu" roundabout using a sword, before seizing the cash available on the bus.
The same sources confirmed that the assailant left the scene calmly, taking advantage of the state of fear and panic that gripped the passengers, who preferred not to intervene to avoid any potential harm.
As soon as they were notified of the incident, elements of the territorial center of the Royal Gendarmerie in El Jadida moved to the scene. They began their field investigations, where the scene of the accident was examined and the statements of the driver and some passengers were heard.
The security elements relied on the recordings of the bus's surveillance cameras to identify the suspect and track his escape route. The search is still ongoing to arrest him and bring him before justice.
This incident brought back to the forefront the fears of urban transport professionals and bus drivers from the growing phenomenon of armed assaults while doing their work, demanding the strengthening of the security presence on the lines connecting the city and its suburbs, especially during the evening hours.
The Royal Gendarmerie services continue their investigations under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor's Office, to uncover the circumstances of the case and arrest those involved.
