HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ould Ali
The primary court in Al Hoceima issued its verdict in the case of the assault on the religious scholar “M.T” in the village of Aouan, belonging to the municipality of Tibrant in the Al Hoceima region, during Friday prayers coinciding with Eid al-Fitr, an incident that sparked a wave of widespread condemnation among the local residents.
The court sentenced the accused to 20 years in prison, in addition to a fine of 50,000 dirhams, following this assault, which shook local public opinion and provoked angry reactions due to its occurrence inside a house of God and during the performance of religious rituals. This ruling comes in the context of emphasizing the protection of the sanctity of mosques and ensuring the safety and security of worshipers, with the emphasis that various forms of violence and assault within religious spaces will be met with strict application of the law.
