The Nantes versus Toulouse match in the final round of the French League, which took place this Sunday evening at the "La Beaujoire" stadium, witnessed exceptional events that ended with its cancellation after the team's fans invaded the pitch.
The events erupted after Nantes officially confirmed its relegation to the second division, which prompted a number of fans to invade the field only 20 minutes after the start of the match, with the setting off of flares and breaching of security barriers, which caused chaos inside the stadium and forced the referee to stop the match and evacuate the players to the changing rooms for their safety. During these tense atmospheres, Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic tried to go towards the angry fans, before a member of the technical staff intervened to prevent him from approaching and avoiding escalating the situation. After the match stopped, touching scenes appeared of the veteran coach Vahid Halilhodzic in a state of collapse and intense crying, in a moment that many considered a sad end to his coaching career spanning more than 30 years.
