The seventh edition of the open days of the General Directorate of National Security kicked off yesterday, Sunday, in Rabat, embodying the firm will of the security institution to strengthen the principles of closeness to citizens.
The opening ceremony of these communication days, which coincide with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the General Directorate of National Security, was chaired by the Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and the Director-General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi.
This edition, which is organized until May 22, reflects the General Directorate’s firm and resolute commitment to modernizing and improving the public police facility and the quality of its services, in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
This demonstration also aims to support the openness of the National Security institution to its social environment, and to inform the public about all the tasks undertaken by the various units and security formations mobilized to serve it and ensure its security and the safety of its properties, and to preserve public order, as well as to review all the advanced equipment, equipment and mechanisms placed at the disposal of the security services.
The opening ceremony of the Open Days, which was attended by a number of government members, the President of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), Philip Lucas, the Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, Mohamed Ben Ali Koman, the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Abdulmajid bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, and judicial, civil and military figures, was marked by a presentation of the various formations, security units and logistical and operational means of national security.
On this occasion, Regional Brigadier, Reda Achbouh, in a speech to the General Directorate, stressed that the current version of the Open Days comes to strengthen the gains and successes of the previous sessions, especially in the field of strengthening the confidence index between citizens and their security institution on the one hand, and raising the sense of security for everyone on the other hand.
Regarding the anniversary of the founding of the General Directorate of National Security, the official pointed out that the Directorate recalls in May of each year, with pride and pride, a glorious history of permanent loyalty to the constants and sanctities of the nation, and the firm commitment to serving the security of the homeland and citizens, stressing that it is also "a renewed annual occasion to consolidate the successes of the first generation of women and men of national security, in order to consolidate the security of the present, and to anticipate the secure future for future generations."
He added in this regard that "the founding anniversary is an annual station to bridge the links between successive generations of policewomen and policemen, and to pass on a lofty message, the gist of which is – all for a secure Morocco – in which everyone enjoys security, development and stability, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI."
Mr. Achbouh pointed out that this anniversary coincides this year with the opening of the new headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security in the city of Rabat, noting that "this integrated security complex comes to provide an integrated functional environment for those in charge of security, allowing them to optimally fulfill their great responsibilities, and perform their noble tasks, which consist of protecting the security of citizens and ensuring the security of all resident and transit foreigners."
The audience followed a video clip about the history of the General Directorate of National Security, and various parade panels highlighting the various police and security professions, as well as the competencies that the Directorate boasts, including a show of the riders' convoy and mounted police, self-defense techniques, as well as a show of the cynotechnic police, and a field show for the special forces of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
The opening ceremony of the Open Days was distinguished by the awarding of royal medals to a number of decorated national security officers, as well as honoring the former directors-general of national security, namely Mr. Bouchaib Armil, Cherki Dhriss, Hafid Benhachem, M'hamed Loukili, and Ahmed Midaoui.
Prior to the official launch of the activities of the seventh edition of the Open Days of National Security, a field visit was organized to the new headquarters of the General Directorate in Rabat, in the presence of a number of national and foreign military and civilian figures, in addition to the media, in order to learn about the facilities of this modern security infrastructure.
It is worth mentioning that these communication days started in 2017 in the city of Casablanca, before becoming an annual demonstration that enables citizens of different ages and categories to discover the multiple aspects of the police profession, and to allow direct communication with the men and women of national security from various fields and specializations.
This event, whose previous editions hosted the cities of Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Fez, Agadir and El Jadida, has become an annual appointment with citizens and an opportunity for direct interaction with police officers and to inquire about the professions and activities of the national security services.
