The headquarters of the Taza Province held a celebratory communication meeting today, Monday, May 18, 2026, organized by the Regional Committee for Human Development, in commemoration of the twenty-first anniversary of the launch of the National Human Development Initiative, the royal project that was established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, since May 18, 2005, as an integrated societal project aimed at enhancing human dignity and reducing social and spatial disparities.
The meeting, which was held under the slogan: "Governance of the National Human Development Initiative: A lever for integration and participation to enhance human development," was chaired by Mr. Rachid Benchikhi, the Governor of Taza Province and President of the Regional Committee for Human Development, in the presence of members of the regional committee, local committees, elected officials, and heads of decentralized services, in addition to civil society, economic, and media figures.
In his opening speech, the governor of the province affirmed that the commemoration of this anniversary constitutes an institutional stop to recall the results of more than two decades of field development work, as well as an opportunity to evaluate the path of the National Human Development Initiative and anticipate its future challenges, especially with regard to strengthening territorial governance and enshrining the principles of participation, transparency, and linking responsibility to accountability.
He pointed out that the National Human Development Initiative has succeeded, since its inception, in establishing a development model based on proximity and listening to the needs of the population, by involving various local actors in formulating and monitoring development projects, which enhances mutual trust between institutions and citizens.
He also announced on this occasion the organization of a series of communication meetings until May 21st in the various municipalities and districts of the province, under the supervision of the heads of the local committees for human development, with the aim of bringing the initiative's results closer to citizens and strengthening the culture of community participation.
For his part, the head of the social action department in the Taza prefecture reviewed the development that the governance of the National Human Development Initiative has witnessed in the province, highlighting that the total number of projects completed during the period from 2005 to 2026 reached about 2200 development projects and activities, with a total financial envelope of approximately 1.409 billion dirhams, which concerned multiple social and economic sectors, and contributed to improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups and enhancing basic infrastructure and services.
This meeting was interspersed with the presentation of an institutional film documenting the stages of the forum organized on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the National Human Development Initiative, before the floor was given to a number of local actors and those involved in the field of territorial governance, who agreed on the importance of preserving the spirit of the initiative and developing its working mechanisms, in line with the developmental and social transformations that the Kingdom is witnessing.
The meeting concluded with raising hands in supplication to God Almighty to protect the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, and to perpetuate the blessing of security, stability, and development in the Kingdom.
