The arrest of a number of Moroccan participants in what is known as the "Resilience and Freedom Fleet" by the Israeli authorities sparked a wide wave of interaction and discussion on social media platforms.
A number of Moroccan activists and doctors participated in the delegation, which opened the door to varying criticisms. In this regard, a number of activists considered that the participants were aware in advance of the difficulty of reaching Gaza and the possibility of their arrest, questioning the usefulness of this step in light of the existing security tensions in the region. The participation of doctors in the trip sparked a wide discussion, where some activists stressed that Moroccan medical competencies are better suited to serve remote and vulnerable areas within the Kingdom. Social media platforms also circulated posts criticizing what they described as "contradiction" between the discourse rejecting normalization and later demanding the intervention of the Moroccan state to follow up on the conditions of the detainees and communicate with the relevant authorities, which deepened the state of controversy about the nature of these movements and their political and humanitarian goals.
