The city of Ouarzazate witnessed this Wednesday morning, May 20th, at a classified hotel, the launch of a communication meeting to present the "Tourism Enterprise" program, which is aimed at young project holders and those interested in investing in the tourism sector, in a move that aims to stimulate local initiatives and revive the dynamism of tourism in the region.
This meeting comes within the framework of joint institutional efforts, with the participation of the Tourism Delegation and the Youth In office, and in coordination with the prefecture of the region and the Regional Tourism Council of Ouarzazate, in order to introduce the mechanisms for benefiting from the support allocated to tourism promotion, and to explain the stages of registration through the digital platform, leading to benefiting from funding and technical support.
The program, according to its organizers, is not limited to funding, but also relies on training and technical support, in an attempt to overcome one of the most prominent challenges facing young project holders, which is related to the lack of experience in managing tourism enterprises and the lack of continuity after launch.
However, this new workshop reopens the discussion about the reality of tourism enterprises in Ouarzazate and the regions of the Draa-Tafilalt region, which, despite its natural, historical and world filming sites, still suffers from the limited tourism investment and the weakness of infrastructure and services directed to visitors, in addition to the seasonality of tourism activity, which directly affects the stability of local enterprises.
Local actors also raise questions about the extent to which such programs can bring about a real transformation in the tourism economic fabric, in light of existing challenges related to weak air connectivity, the decline of some tourism indicators in recent years, and the absence of field strategies capable of transforming natural qualifications into sustainable projects.
Despite this, the organizers of the program rely on the youth category as a basic lever for reviving the sector, through innovative projects in the fields of alternative accommodation, eco-tourism, and digital services directed to tourists, in line with the new transformations in global tourism demand.
The success of this program remains contingent on its ability to move from the stage of announcement and framing to the stage of actual implementation on the ground, and to create a tangible impact on the dynamism of tourism investment within Ouarzazate and the Draa-Tafilalt region in general.
