The President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Mehdi Tahraoui, confirmed on Wednesday in Rabat that Morocco is gradually strengthening its position as a regional platform for financing and supporting growth in Africa, thanks to a structured financial system, strategic infrastructure, and sustainable investment dynamics.

Tahraoui explained, during his participation in the Global Growth Conference, organized by the Amadeus Institute, under the slogan "Structuring Growth: Transforming Uncertainty into Opportunities," that this system is based on several integrated pillars, including a strong banking system, an investment fund dedicated to providing capital, quasi-equity, in addition to the support mechanisms stipulated in the Investment Charter.

He also highlighted the Kingdom's great ability to mobilize national savings through major institutional investors, such as the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion, the Moroccan Pension Fund, the National Social Security Fund, and the Collective System for Granting Retirement Pensions.

He explained that this system allows for the rapid mobilization of the necessary financing to carry out major structural projects, whether related to sports infrastructure related to the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup, or to major territorial development projects.

Tahraoui also touched on the continuous improvement in the Kingdom's macro-economic indicators, including an expected growth of between 5.2 percent and 5.5 percent in 2026, and a controlled debt level of approximately 62 percent of the gross domestic product.

He pointed out that this dynamism is supported by the progress of many strategic projects, including the energy transition, the development of infrastructure, such as the Tangier Med port and the future Dakhla Atlantic port, in addition to enhancing the efficiency of human capital through vocational training reform.

On the continental level, Tahraoui mentioned that Africa offers exceptional growth prospects, as its population exceeds one billion people, and is expected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050, with an average age of about 20 years, making it the largest global reservoir for youth and productivity.

In contrast, the speaker pointed out that trade exchanges between African countries are still limited, as they represent only 15 percent of total African exchanges, compared to about 60 percent between European countries, which reveals great untapped potential in the field of regional economic integration.

It is worth noting that the "Global Growth Conference 2026", organized on the initiative of the Amadeus Institute, is witnessing the participation of more than 100 high-level speakers and more than 1,000 participants representing more than 50 countries. The conference brings together ministers and senior institutional officials, leaders of financial institutions, sovereign funds, private investors, economic actors, international experts, and representatives of the private sector, to discuss five strategic axes.

These axes include "Economic Sovereignty and the New Rules of the Global Game", "Transition from Financing to Investment Platforms", "Production, Value Chains, and Remanufacturing", "Energy, Resources, and Strategic Growth", in addition to "Morocco's role as a Hub for Trust, Investment, and Structuring Growth".
