HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Baraka
Just two days after media spotlighted the proliferation of "Al-After" shisha establishments operating outside the legal framework, these spaces have returned to the forefront of events in the city of Agadir, this time through a serious act of violence that shook a controversial cafe.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a shisha cafe located on Hassan II Street, near the prefecture headquarters, turned into a scene of violent clashes between a number of people, following a dispute that quickly escalated into sharp clashes in which force was used, leaving a state of chaos and terror in the vicinity. According to consistent data, these clashes resulted in significant material losses, after the cafe's equipment was vandalized, including electronic devices, shisha bottles, and other equipment, in a scene that reflects the extent of the lawlessness that some of these spaces have come to know. The cafe in question, which falls under the category of "Al-After" establishments, has long been described by a number of followers as a "black spot," given the repeated incidents of violence and its association with suspicious activities, which raises wide questions about its operating conditions and its continuation despite the ongoing controversy. The incident brought back to the forefront the demands of the city's residents to tighten control over this type of establishment, which, according to their expression, has turned into a real source of concern that threatens public security, especially in light of what they consider to be unjustified silence from the concerned authorities.
