American reports revealed that the American President, Donald Trump, held a high-level meeting with his national security team, yesterday, Friday, to discuss developments in the war with Iran, amid increasing indications of Washington's consideration of carrying out a "decisive and final" military operation if diplomatic efforts fail.
According to American sources, the meeting, which was attended by the American Vice President, J.D. Vance, the American Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Ratcliffe, discussed scenarios for the collapse of negotiations with Tehran, in light of the talks' stumbling and the lack of tangible progress. The site quoted two informed sources that Trump has become more frustrated with the course of negotiation in recent days, and informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of his desire to give diplomacy one last chance, before later leaning towards the option of directing a new military strike. A source close to Trump confirmed that the American President put forward the idea of implementing a "decisive and final military operation," after which he could declare victory and end the war, without a final decision yet on resuming military operations. The American moves coincided with regional mediation efforts, including the arrival of the Pakistani army commander, Marshal Asim Munir, to Tehran, in addition to the arrival of a Qatari delegation to support diplomatic efforts and prevent the war from renewing.
