A fire broke out in the Maamora forest in the city of New Salé this Sunday afternoon, consuming a portion of the forest cover. This necessitated urgent intervention from local authorities and civil protection elements to control the flames and prevent their spread to wider areas.
In this regard, "Canadair" helicopters, specialized in extinguishing fires, were used, along with field intervention teams, given the difficult terrain and high temperatures that contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. The fire caused a state of alert among the local authorities and specialized services, while the causes of its outbreak remain unknown until now, pending the opening of an investigation to determine its circumstances and the losses it caused. The firefighting teams continue their intensive efforts to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching neighboring areas, amid close field monitoring of developments.
