The local Ain Sebaa 1 prison administration in Casablanca issued a clarifying statement on Saturday in response to video clips published by the family of the deceased prisoner (H.F.), in which they accused the prison institution of causing his death as a result of "torture and assault" and "medical negligence."
The institution's administration confirmed that the prisoner died on May 26, 2026, at the external hospital to which he had been transferred since May 14 to receive treatment, noting that he suffered from severe diabetes, in addition to psychological disorders. The prison administration denied what it described as the family's claims regarding medical negligence, explaining that the person in question benefited from regular health care inside and outside the institution, where he underwent 11 medical examinations inside the prison and 10 examinations at the external hospital, pointing out that "he was not disciplined in receiving insulin treatment." The statement added that the prisoner had multiple prior convictions, and more than ten disciplinary violations were recorded against him, including cases of self-harm while in the hospital. The administration also clarified that the deceased was serving a prison sentence of one year in force and eight months suspended, after being convicted of charges related to theft accompanied by circumstances of violence, beating, injury, and causing material losses to the property of others. The local Ain Sebaa 1 prison administration concluded its statement by emphasizing that the prisoner received the necessary medical care throughout his detention, denying the validity of the accusations that were circulated regarding the circumstances of his death.
