Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan issued a decision today, Sunday, May 31st, to postpone the start time of morning work hours to 10 am on days when the Al-Nashama national team plays its matches within the 2026 World Cup finals, which is only 11 days away from its start.
According to the decision, official working hours are expected to begin on June 17th, 23rd, and 28th at 10 am instead of 8:30 am, as is the case on other ordinary days. This decision aims to "enable citizens to watch the national football team's matches and support it during its historic participation in this tournament." The Jordanian national team is expected to meet Austria, Algeria, and Argentina on June 17th, 23rd, and 28th, respectively, within the 2026 World Cup finals. For the record, Al-Nashama lost today, Sunday, in a friendly match against the Swiss national team at the "Kyubyn Park" stadium in the city of St. Gallen (4-1). The Jordanian national team is scheduled to travel to San Diego, USA, to enter a training camp (June 1-10), which includes a friendly match against Colombia on the evening of Sunday, June 7th, at the "Snapdragon" stadium, before settling in its official camp during the World Cup in the American city of Portland. Jordanian national team coach Jamal Salimi said in press statements that the team "has the full ability to leave a strong mark and present an honorable image that reflects the great development in the level of Jordanian football during the past period." He pointed out that this historic participation is a golden opportunity to prove the personality of Al-Nashama on the international stage and to highlight the extent of the ambition that the players have to represent their country in the largest global football event. Salimi revealed that the secret of success that led the team to this achievement lies in "unity, honesty in dealing within the same group, in addition to the high fighting spirit that the players possess in various circumstances."
