The European Parliament (EP), which began the work of its plenary session in Strasbourg (October 7-10) on Monday, rejected an attempt by some supporters of the separatists, who wanted to include a debate on the rulings on the agenda. of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) concerning the Morocco-EU agreements on fishing and agriculture.
The proposal, put forward by the Left group, some members of which are accustomed to gesticulations basking in an ideology which is no longer in use, was rejected by a majority vote of MEPs belonging to all the political currents represented within the EP.
This snub, inflicted on the separatists and their meager support, once again puts things in the right place and shows the isolation of the CJEU within the institutions of the EU and its Member States, as well as the support of the separatists within of the European hemicycle.
This refusal by the European institution comes after the joint statement by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, who reaffirmed the bloc’s commitment European Union in favor of further preservation and strengthening of close relations with Morocco in all areas, in accordance with the principle “pacta sunt servanda”.
This declaration, a rare political act which highlights the importance of Morocco and materializes the importance of the EU’s partnership with the Kingdom, reiterates the “great value” that the EU attaches to “its strategic partnership with Morocco, which is long-standing, vast and deep.”
