HIBAPRESS-RABAT
The Safi Municipal beach kicked off the “Clean Beaches” campaign, initiated by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection in the presence of the Secretary General of the province of Safi, the President of the Commune of Safi and local and security authorities, heads of external services, representatives of civil society as well as officials of Ciments du Maroc, sponsor of this beach since 2001.
Safi Beach has many assets to welcome holidaymakers. Since 2009, it has been awarded the Blue Flag label, a guarantee of international quality for seaside resorts.
The eco-sustainable village “Sayfok” highlights the messages of the national campaign #b7arblaplastic initiated by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment.
Designed in collaboration with young Safiotes involved in the local community, the program offers fun and educational activities focused on games, art, culture and radio, in order to raise awareness among young people and families throughout the summer.
Activities include individual and group games, such as games made from recycled plastic, digital and augmented reality games, as well as a playground for younger children and sports tournaments.
Art and culture are also in the spotlight with drawing and coloring workshops focused on protecting the coastline from plastic waste, a library offering books on preserving natural resources, pottery classes, the history of the city of Safi, and an exhibition of giant sculptures made from recycled materials.
Beach radio plays a key role in broadcasting messages about the environmental challenges facing our coastlines, and in inviting holidaymakers to get involved in concrete actions such as clean-up campaigns and fun competitions.
Finally, Ciments du Maroc renews its commitment to the Safi region by supporting two other beaches since 2001: Lalla Fatna and KourramEddif, by installing essential infrastructure to ensure health, safety, hygiene and cleanliness for all visitors.
