Following the draw for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifiers held last week in Johannesburg, CAF has confirmed the official fixtures for all qualifying matches to be played between September and November 2024..
A total of 48 nations have been divided into 12 groups of 4, with the top two of the eleven (11) groups that do not involve the tournament’s host nation, Morocco, set to qualify for the competition.
The draw produced some interesting clashes to determine the final 24 teams that will contest the 35th edition of Africa’s biggest sporting spectacle which will take place in the North African nation between December 21 and January 18.
The recent edition held in Ivory Coast reaffirmed the growing level of African football, which is reaching a record level in all matches.
In view of some matches, defending champions Ivory Coast will begin their campaign against 2012 champions Zambia, who are in Group G which includes Sierra Leone and Chad.
Hosts Morocco will face Gabon in Group B, while Central African Republic will host Lesotho in another Group B clash.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles, finalists in Ivory Coast, will face Benin, while Libya host Rwanda in what will be a tough Group D.
Group L will undoubtedly provide the most appetising match of the first day of qualifying, when former champions Senegal host Burkina Faso.
