The European Football Association (UEFA) on Wednesday handed Spanish national team captain Alvaro Morata and his compatriot Rodri a one-match ban.

It has been decided to suspend the two Spanish players for chanting the Spanish Gibraltar chant during the celebrations in Madrid for the victory of the 2024 European Cup.

The UEFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to suspend the players for the next match for breaching fundamental rules of etiquette and using sporting events to make demands of an unsportsmanlike nature and harming the image of football and UEFA.
