Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on Thursday the existence of opportunities to reach a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine.
Putin said during a speech at the plenary session of the "Eastern Economic Forum 2026," there is an opportunity to settle the Ukrainian conflict.
The President clarified that Ukraine's aggressive actions complicate the chances of reaching a peaceful settlement.
According to him, state-sponsored terrorism in Kyiv complicates the prospects for reaching a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, saying: "We have just heard about threats to attack civilian aircraft, and this is, of course, a manifestation of state terrorism. This certainly complicates the possibility of bilateral peace talks."
The President pointed out that contacts between Russia and Ukraine are ongoing, primarily through special services.
He added: "Russia and Ukraine must, first and foremost, reach an agreement. All other countries are ready to support and help… But in the end, and above all, this problem must be resolved by the two states involved in the conflict – Russia and Ukraine. This is the correct approach."
