The dual carriageway on Ibn Zaidoun Road, at the northern entrance to the city of Settat, has become a pathway of terror due to the absence of public lighting and signage, and the proliferation of deviant behavior, especially at night, which now threatens the lives and safety of citizens.
According to sources for HIBAPRESS, the aforementioned road underwent rehabilitation and expansion works by the Provincial Council, but it remains without public lighting and signage, increasing the suffering of drivers and pedestrians alike, fearing the occurrence of fatal traffic accidents.
HIBAPRESS had received a complaint on the matter, signed by numerous affected citizens. They outlined some of the problems they face during their commutes, such as the absence of public lighting and signage. They called for intervention to address the situation and to create an access point connecting this road to the street opposite Sidi Abdel Karim cemetery.
Others have appealed to the security services to conduct security campaigns along the perimeter of this road, with the installation of a police patrol at its main roundabout leading to Tarraoui Road to secure it and instill a sense of tranquility and security in its users at night.
On this subject, HIBAPRESS contacted the president of the Municipal Council, Nadia Fdmi, to inquire about the status of this road. She confirmed that the responsible authority is the Provincial Council institution, not the Municipal Council. She indicated that her council had corresponded with the relevant authorities through two letters on the matter, aiming to address the problem of public lighting and signage. However, the situation persists, awaiting a clarification from the concerned party, according to her.
