The elements of the Regional Service of the Judicial Police in the city of Bouarfa, in the early hours of Saturday, September 05, managed to dismantle a secret laboratory dedicated to the production and distillation of the alcoholic beverage "Mahia" located in the "East Wadi" neighborhood.
Informed sources stated that the operation was carried out based on precise intelligence data that monitored suspicious movements and activity inside one of the houses in the mentioned neighborhood. Following a raid on the site under the supervision of the competent public prosecution and after completing all legal procedures, this prohibited activity was foiled.
Field searches inside the secret headquarters resulted in the seizure and confiscation of over 400 liters of "Mahia" alcohol prepared for distribution, in addition to huge quantities of raw materials, foremost among them shipments of fermented dates, and advanced and traditional equipment used in distillation processes, including plastic barrels, connecting pipes, gas cylinders, and ovens.
The interventions also led to the arrest of the main suspect overseeing the management of the laboratory. He was subjected to police custody measures pending the completion of direct investigations under the supervision of the public prosecution, with the aim of uncovering all the circumstances and details surrounding the case and identifying its ramifications and the network of alleged distributors.
