The Criminal Chamber of Urgent Cases at the Fes Court of First Instance issued its verdicts on Friday evening, September 11, 2026, in the case known as the "fake invoices and shell companies" case, in which a number of individuals are being prosecuted on suspicion of their involvement in acts related to the transactions and invoices under scrutiny.
The court ruled to convict Abdelilah Bouaziz, head of the Taza Provincial Council and a leader in the National Rally of Independents party, sentencing him to six months of immediate imprisonment and a fine of one thousand dirhams.
The court also obligated the concerned party to pay an amount of 15,872,861.57 dirhams to the state and the General Directorate of Taxes, in addition to civil compensation of 100,000 dirhams.
In the same context, the court issued verdicts against the remaining individuals prosecuted in the case, obligating those convicted to pay tax debts totaling over 211 million dirhams, as well as civil compensation amounting to 370,000 dirhams.
The issued verdicts also included the acquittal of six defendants, along with an order to destroy the invoices deemed fraudulent by the court, and the return of some seized items to their owners, as stated in the ruling.
This verdict comes at the conclusion of the trial phase before the Fes Court of First Instance, in a case that has garnered widespread attention due to the nature of the alleged acts and the significant sums of money involved in the tax and civil aspects of the case.
