In a scene that shook the feelings of the local residents and cast a shadow of sadness over the Nador city corniche, the waters of Marchica Lagoon, on Monday morning, washed ashore the body of a young man in his twenties, from the city of Taza, hours after his sudden disappearance by drowning.
The tragic incident began its chapters on Sunday evening, around six o'clock, when the deceased went into the lake waters to swim, and disappeared from sight under mysterious circumstances, leaving his bicycle parked near the corniche as a silent witness to the final moments before the catastrophe occurred.
This sudden disappearance triggered a wide-scale alert among the specialized agencies, which began intensive and continuous search operations throughout the night. These operations concluded the following morning when the lake waves cast the body to the surface amidst a solemn presence and overwhelming shock caused by the gravity of the accident among those present.
Upon receiving the report, civil protection elements and relevant security services arrived at the scene to deal with the situation. All legal and administrative measures in place were taken before completing the transfer of the body, in a touching human scene marked by the agony of the victim's father, who followed the details of the tragedy with profound sorrow.
