HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Baraka
The Inrarn area in Tamzargout, belonging to the Aqseri commune, north of Agadir, witnessed a huge fire yesterday, Sunday, which destroyed areas of vegetation and a number of trees, amid great fears of the flames spreading to neighboring homes and farms.
Firefighting teams, on Monday, September 14, managed, in cooperation with the residents of the area who participated in the efforts to extinguish the flames, to contain the fire and limit its spread, after hours of mobilization to surround the fire outbreaks, in light of the difficult terrain, high temperatures, and winds that contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
Monitoring operations are still ongoing to ensure the fire does not return to some hotspots. The fire left significant losses in vegetation and trees in the oasis, amid calls to strengthen preventive measures and rapid intervention to protect oases, properties, and residents from similar fires.
