HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyaoui
The Palm Market, on the edge of Moulay Idriss in the city of Fez, witnessed a huge fire on Monday night – Tuesday, which destroyed a number of commercial shops, leaving behind material losses, amidst a state of alert at the scene.
According to informed sources, the initial available data indicates that an electrical short circuit inside one of the commercial shops may have been behind the outbreak of the fire, before the flames spread to neighboring shops.
Immediately upon being notified of the incident, civil defense teams and specialized services rushed to the scene, where the necessary resources were mobilized to contain and control the fire, and prevent its spread to the rest of the neighboring shops and facilities.
The fire caused panic among traders and residents, especially given the speed at which the flames spread within the market and its contents of flammable goods and materials.
Investigations are still ongoing by the competent authorities to accurately reveal the causes and circumstances of the fire's outbreak, while the hypothesis of an electrical short circuit, according to initial data, remains among the proposed hypotheses pending the outcome of the investigations.
