Last Friday evening, the center of the city of The Emirate witnessed a state of security alert, following an individual suffering from mental disorders, who carried a sharp object and brandished it at passersby, which necessitated an urgent intervention from the security services.
According to local sources, the intervention required the use of a firearm by a security officer, in an attempt to contain the situation and control the individual concerned, before the operation resulted in the injury of a security officer.
The injured officer was transferred to Moulay Ali Cherif Regional Hospital in The Emirate, where he is undergoing necessary medical examinations and treatments.
On the other hand, security forces were able to put an end to the situation and control the individual concerned, before he was transferred, according to preliminary data, to a hospital institution specialized in dealing with psychological and mental disorders.
