Oujda to host Maghreb Film Festival this October

The city of Oujda will host the Maghreb Film Festival from October 7 to October 12.

This year’s edition called ‘Image and imagination in cinema’ will know the participation of directors, actors, film critics, producers, journalists, and other cinema professionals from around the world in hopes to democratize access to cinema and art, and developing and celebrating the film industry.

The previous two editions were held remotely due to Covid-19.

Over 20 short and feature films will be screened during the festival, including a Senegalese film directed by Moussa Toure, which demonstrates the festival’s efforts to open up to the African capital.

In addition to all film screenings, the festival has technical and artistic workshops, and conferences planned for upcoming cinema professionals.

These include a workshop on professional photography and another on documentary films.

A number of artists will be honored at the festival, including Syrian artist Joumana Murad, Moroccan director, producer, and actor Hamid Zoghi, and Moroccan artist Fadela Benmoussa, alongside many names who will be revealed at the festival.

This edition will also include a screening of two animation films for children.

Ever since its beginning in 2010, the Maghreb Film Festival aimed to value cinematographic creations by celebrating them.

The festival has become one of the most publicized festivals in the Maghreb region.
