HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Zerouih
In the Azemour municipality, affiliated with the Nador constituency, a field incident occurred today, Wednesday, between the electoral base, coinciding with the start of the legislative elections, following disputes that arose between members of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party, led by candidate Mohamed Aberkan, and supporters of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, represented by candidate Mohamed Mounimi.
Local sources reported that verbal altercations quickly escalated into a field confrontation that resulted in stone-throwing between the two parties, causing temporary confusion around the polling stations and affecting the normal flow of the electoral process.
In immediate response to the incident, local actors and citizens intervened to resolve the crisis through voluntary field initiatives, aimed at separating the competing factions and easing tensions to ensure the situation did not get out of control.
These popular mediations were tangibly successful in containing the incident and restoring calm to the public space, completely stopping the stone-throwing and neutralizing the risks of further direct confrontations between the supporters of the two parties.
This field tension reflects the magnitude of the political stakes associated with the seats in the Nador constituency, amidst assurances from observers on the importance of party entities adhering to the highest degrees of national responsibility and complying with organizational laws to maintain the safety and integrity of the democratic process.
