Al-Arabi Al-Sharai'i, an unaffiliated parliamentary deputy, criticized the government's orientations in the agricultural sector, considering that the official discourse regarding achieving food sovereignty is inconsistent with the reality of small farmers and the challenges they face.
Al-Sharai'i said, in a brief intervention during a session at the House of Representatives dedicated to discussing the government's statement, that the government talks about food sovereignty at a time when its policies, according to his expression, are directed towards weakening the small farmer and threatening their continuation in agricultural activity.
The parliamentary deputy directed observations to the government regarding the situation of this category, which constitutes an essential part of the agricultural production system, in light of the constraints related to production costs, marketing difficulties, and the need for support that guarantees the continuity of small holdings.
