HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Zerouih
In an update on the progress of the electoral process in the Nador province, "HIBAPRESS" newspaper has received a copy of a public statement issued by the "Left Alliance in Nador," expressing its profound concern and anger over what it described as violations that have compromised the integrity of the ongoing elections around several polling stations.
The statement indicated that the Left Alliance is following with "great concern and anger" what is happening around a number of polling stations, particularly near some educational institutions, where individuals were observed distributing money and influencing voters through suspicious means, in a "blatant attempt to influence the will of citizens and attract their votes," which directly contradicts legal provisions and democratic ethics.
The alliance stressed in its statement that these practices cannot be treated as mere normal electoral behaviors; rather, they represent a "serious blow to freedom of choice, the integrity of the electoral process, and the citizens' right to vote free from pressure, temptation, and dirty money." It categorically rejected the idea of turning voters' ballots into an "electoral commodity" or transforming the vicinity of educational centers into spaces for illicit influence.
The statement called on the competent authorities to intervene immediately, firmly, and responsibly, by opening the necessary investigations to verify the field data and taking all legal measures against anyone proven to be involved in these practices, regardless of their affiliation, position, or the entity behind them. The alliance also held the competent authorities fully responsible for ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process and protecting voters' freedom, emphasizing that any negligence or failure would negatively impact confidence in the elections as a whole.
In a related context, the Left Alliance in Nador affirmed its full right to pursue all available legal procedures and evidence, by submitting documented data and complaints to the competent judicial and administrative bodies, in defense of the integrity of the elections and the sanctity of the citizen's vote.
The alliance also announced its intention to hold a press conference at the appropriate time to present the details of the data and facts to the public opinion, and to expose the various violations that affect the integrity of the elections, while fully adhering to neutrality and the presumption of innocence until any responsibility is proven by the judicial authorities.
The Left Alliance concluded its statement by emphasizing that "the citizen's vote is a trust… not a commodity," calling for an end to the logic of bargaining and dirty money, to achieve genuine elections that deeply reflect the free electoral will.
