The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party, during its ordinary meeting on Saturday, February 7, 2026, chaired by the Secretary-General Abdelilah Benkirane, adopted a set of prominent political and organizational positions that addressed national, regional, and international issues, in light of a close follow-up of national developments.
The General Secretariat praised the positive developments in the territorial integrity file, especially the new position of the European Union regarding the Moroccan Sahara, which recognizes the possibility of self-governance as a viable solution to the conflict and reflects support for the UN process and appreciation for Moroccan diplomatic efforts, which enhances Morocco's credibility and international standing in this sensitive file. The General Secretariat renewed its absolute solidarity with the Palestinian people and Gaza in particular, in the face of the ongoing Zionist aggression, condemning the violations of the ceasefire and the suspicious international silence, and emphasizing the need for urgent action to save civilians and secure their humanitarian rights, amid the steadfastness of the Palestinians in the face of the killing machine and the siege. It praised the national mobilization to address the effects of the recent floods and torrents, expressing its appreciation for the efforts made by the military, security and sectoral authorities, and civil protection teams, stressing the importance of accelerating the delivery of aid to the affected families, and ensuring the protection of livestock and vital property for the residents, especially in the regions of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra. The General Secretariat called on the government, the Ministry of Justice, and the bar associations to engage in dialogue to protect the independence of the legal profession and the immunity of the defense, and to ensure the continuation of the justice facility and the preservation of the rights of litigants, while emphasizing the development of legislation that protects the profession in accordance with constitutional and international standards, and guarantees a fair trial for all citizens. The party also affirmed its full solidarity with Mohamed El Arabi Belkaid in the face of the judgment against him, while praising his struggle and loyalty, and called on all members of the National Council to mobilize and participate in the ordinary session to be held on February 14 and 15 in Bouznika, to confirm the party's readiness to face internal and external challenges, and to maintain its pivotal position in political life in Morocco.
