HIBAPRESS – Figuig
The "Oussaimane" area, affiliated with the Figuig province, witnessed an incident on the morning of Saturday, October 3rd, which caused severe losses to a livestock breeder in the region. A pack of stray dogs attacked a farm and preyed on 29 sheep.
According to information from the scene, the pack exploited the farm's emptiness in the early morning hours to infiltrate its walls, resulting in the death of this large number of livestock. This represents a severe financial blow to the affected livestock breeder, given the difficult economic and climatic conditions the region is experiencing.
This painful incident has once again brought the phenomenon of stray dog proliferation in the border strip and rural areas adjacent to the Figuig province under scrutiny. Many residents and farmers have expressed their growing concern about the escalation of this phenomenon, pointing out that it has become a constant threat not only to their livestock and sole source of livelihood, but also to their safety and the personal security of their children.
The affected individuals and civil society actors in the region have called on the competent authorities, local and elected officials to intervene urgently and take field action to curb the danger posed by these dogs, by launching combing campaigns and organizing intensive sterilization and vaccination operations.
