The Royal Gendarmerie elements at the Ait Ourir territorial post, under the supervision of the regional command, and led by the company commander and the territorial post commander, reacted quickly and seriously to a circulated video that documented the moment a citizen was intercepted by two individuals on a motorcycle, before they stole his motorcycle under threat with a bladed weapon.
Upon spotting the video, the gendarmerie services immediately launched intensive field investigations and inquiries, which quickly led to the identification of the two suspects. The gendarmerie was then able to arrest one of them and recover the stolen motorcycle, returning it to its owner.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of the motorcycle suspected of being used during the commission of the crime. The second suspect managed to escape, but his identity has been established, and investigations and inquiries are ongoing to apprehend him and present him before the competent judicial authorities.
According to preliminary information, the escaped suspect had previously served a 10-year prison sentence for cases related to theft, highway robbery, and assault with a bladed weapon.
