Morocco is moving towards manufacturing the "IRIFI" attack drones in partnership with the French company "Harmattan AI." This is an autonomous aerial system whose range, according to the specifications announced by the developing company, reaches approximately 2000 kilometers. It is designed to carry out strikes against distant targets, unlike traditional drones dedicated to reconnaissance and surveillance.
"IRIFI" belongs to the category of single-use aerial weapons, launched to carry out a single offensive mission without returning to base. It relies on an internal combustion engine, and is launched from mobile container-based platforms, allowing for its transport and deployment in different locations.
The system is based on integrated navigation, sensing, and data processing systems, enabling it to continue carrying out missions in conditions of electronic jamming or communication disruptions, while reducing reliance on satellite positioning systems. It also uses optical guidance technologies to assist in target identification during the final phase of the attack.
These characteristics, according to the announced design, allow the system to be used to target military sites, logistical facilities, and other targets related to military capabilities at long distances from the launch point. However, the company has not revealed details about the explosive payload or the weight of the warhead, nor has it published all data related to flight speed, operational altitude, and accuracy.
Despite its reliance on autonomous operation during the mission, the company indicates that target identification, mission approval, and launch authorization remain subject to human decision before the system executes its designated path.
The full technical specifications of "IRIFI" are still not available, nor have results of independent tests to verify its actual operational performance been announced. This makes the announced maximum range of approximately 2000 kilometers the most prominent technical data available about it so far.
