HIBAPRESS – Laayoune
Hassan Derham announced his resignation from membership in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra Regional Council and the Boujdour Municipal Council, explaining that his decision comes within the framework of arranging his legal and political situation in line with his new party choices after moving from the National Rally of Independents party to the Progress and Socialism Party.
Derham explained that the resignation reflects, in his words, a clear and responsible political stance, and falls within the respect of the legal and organizational rules associated with electoral work, especially in light of the transformations witnessed in the party scene in the region.
He affirmed that his decision does not mean disavowing the period he spent within the elected councils, expressing his appreciation for the work accomplished during his period of representing the population, and extending his thanks to the various stakeholders with whom he worked.
Derham denied the existence of other reasons behind the resignation, considering that the interpretations circulated about its motives are baseless, and stressing that the difference in party choices should not turn into personal disputes, affirming his continued adherence to his principles and placing the interest of citizens and the region above party and personal considerations.
